The Somerset Hills Department of Student Services provides a full range of specialized program options from pre-school through high school. Program options are determined individually, remaining mindful of the need to educate students within the Least Restrictive Environment. Regular education with supplementary aids and services, in-class support, resource center support are all a part of the full continuum of placement options available within the district. The district also has a class for preschool children with disabilities, inclusion preschool classes and a self-contained Middle School and High School Multiply Disabled program. When appropriate, program options outside of the district are considered.
Child Study Team members include learning consultants, psychologists and social workers. All classes are taught by certified teachers of students with disabilities who are also certified in the required general education area. Paraprofessionals are utilized to assist teachers and children as needed. Related services providers include speech and language specialists, occupational therapists and physical therapists. A board certified behavior analyst is available as needed.
