Mission statement

The mission of the Somerset Hills Parents and Professionals for Exceptional Children is to provide support and advocacy for the families of special needs children and to provide a forum for all individuals interested in the education of these students. Through a collaborative effort between parents, professionals, community members and the Student Services Department, we will strive to improve the lives of students with special needs in the Somerset Hills School District.

The goals of the Somerset Hills PEC are:

  • To provide support and advocacy for families of students with special needs
  • To maintain effective communication between parents and professionals on current topics in special education
  • To improve educational, recreational, vocational and social programs for students with special needs
  • To keep abreast of federal, state and local legislation that may impact the education of students with IEP’s
  • To work together to help students with special needs grow, and to help the community better understand the needs of exceptional children
