Hello My Name Is...
<LuAnn Falletta>
Welcome to mathematics at Bernards High School!
Mathematics has long been a source of great fascination and enjoyment for me. An an undergraduate, I attended New York University, majoring in math, and minoring in music and education. I later earned a Master's Degree in Operations Research from Columbia Univerisity.
Although education had long been my chosen field, I began my career in engineering, working for Bell Laboratories, AT&T, Lucent Technologies and many of the other companies that spun from our once monopolistic telephone enterprise. As a systems engineer, and later as an engineering director, my work centered on defining and developing large-scale software systems that managed telecommunications networks in the U.S. and beyond. While these years were very interesting and fulfilling and gave me a true understanding of the relationship between academics and industry, I was grateful to later have the opportunity to further pursue my interests and career in education.
As a math teacher, my love and enjoyment for the subject have grown, and it is a privilege to work with young people as they start to shape and realize their own life work. I hope to share my love of mathematics with my students and help them develop an appreciation of their own. I hope to help them learn what they need to know to advance in their studies. Above all else, I hope to help them develop the critical thinking skills they will need wherever their lives take them.
