Boys Tennis

Forty-two days from tomorrow is the first day of spring preseason. At present, only five tennis players have completed the required forms via GoToMySportsPhysical.com. By February 15, ALL paperwork is due, so do not procrastinate.

This blurb and information regarding whose paperwork is waiting to be stamped will be uploaded to a GOOGLE CLASSROOM page to which you will receive an invitation.

NOTE: Please send me an e-mail if you wish to be added or deleted from the aforementioned page.

Here's what was in the BHS Friday Folder from January 5, 2018:

Spring sports start in early March.  There will be a meeting for all students interested in participating in spring sports on January 8, 2018, at 2:45 P.M. in the Performing Arts Center.  All requirements to be approved to participate are due by February 15, 2018.  Please click here for the sports memo for detailed directions on what is needed to be approved.

Please note that the first day of preseason is Friday, March 2, 2018.

BHS student-athletes are expected to attend their first tennis practice at BMS (gymnasium to start).

The address for the tennis courts is the same as for Bernardsville Middle School (BMS): 141 Seney Drive, Bernardsville, NJ 07924.

In case of inclement weather, the BMS gym is available from 3-5 P.M. on the following seven* school days: 3/2, 3/5-3/9, 3/12. If a student-athlete has been cleared prior to 3/2 and attends the first six practices, he is officially eligible to participate in interscholastic competition.

FAQs about Boys Tennis

How fit does a tennis player need to be for Day 1 of preseason?

Athletes are expected to be fit enough to sustain a jogging pace for FOURTEEN MINUTES along with the following two core-strengthening activities:

Two sets of ten push-ups
Three sets of one-minute planks

What supplies does a tennis player need for preseason?

Athletes are expected to bring a tennis racquet and a can of three new or gently used tennis balls. Athletic apparel should include shorts and sweats; tennis shoes are a must, but feel free to bring running shoes.

If an athlete does not drive his car to school, is he expected to walk from the high school to the middle school campus?

Athletes are encouraged to take one of the two shuttle buses that leave the high school within a few minutes of dismissal and travel to BMS. NOTE: This shuttle service is a first-come basis for athletes, so focus on getting to the middle school (since you can use the locker room at BMS).
