Sorge, Melissa

Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Sorge

"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
-Oscar Wilde

Mrs. Sorge is the Reading Specialist at the Bernardsville Middle School. Before she was a Reading Specialist, she served as a grade six literacy teacher for seven years. Mrs. Sorge earned a bachelor’s degree in English Education from the University of Delaware and a master’s degree in Reading from Montclair State University. Recently, she completed her doctoral dissertation to earn a degree in Literary Studies from Drew University.

Often found seated next to a pile of books, magazines, and novels, Mrs. Sorge loves to read and hopes to instill that interest in her students. She works hard to encourage her students to find pleasure in reading and writing and believes that with the right book, anyone can be a motivated reader. When she is not reading or teaching, Mrs. Sorge enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the beach, and playing the piano.
